A Day in the Life Of a Venue Dresser

Every Wedding or Event is different but each one is special to the Couple & to us. To give you an idea of what is involved in a typical day we thought we would give you a look behind the scenes at Aisle Be Yours

The planning starts months before the actual day and the week running up to the Event is spent chasing up suppliers & tying up loose ends, picking up last minute supplies & keeping the Bride calm!

Day Before:

Up at 6am, check emails & start the round of phone calls with a cuppa in one hand & phone in the other.

Pick up all the bits & peices from the Bride

Calm down irrate Bride who can't find box with Tiara & Jewellery in!

Grab a quick lunch on the go and check all boxes, timings for the day.

Phone call from Mother of the Bride, can I make another Buttonhole as Aunty Doris is coming after all.

Arrive home at 10pm and check all boxes and make buttonhole for Aunty Doris.

Grab a bite to eat & a cuppa and fall into bed with notepad & pen in case I remember anything during my restless night's sleep.

Day of the Event:

6am Start, slice of toast, cuppa & check emails & phone calls.

7am showered & dressed in uniform ready to start the days work.

8.30 am Arrive at Venue with boxes & cake, meet coordinator who informs us she has been waiting to clock off! and ont be there for the wedding.

9.00 Start setting up the 120 Chair covers & tie bows, after getting the chairs needed from 3 floors below in a lift for 4 people!

1.25 Meet up with the Bride & Bridesmaids who are hiding behind a wall until all the guests have gone into ceremony room

1.30 Take place at the back of the Ceremony Room to shed a tear as my Bride who I have worked with for 18 months finally becomes a Mrs.

2.00 Ensure Welcome drinks are available and Guests are in position for photos.

3.00 All Guests seated in Reception Room for Wedding Breakfast, time to grab a quick sandwich at the bar whilst the speeches are on. End up playing on the floor with 5 kids, 20 balloons & a few coloring books!

5.00 All guests have dispersed to the Bar or their rooms to freshen up for the Evening reception. We noe sweep into action to clear the room & set up all over again for the evening.

7.00 Welcome Guests & show them to the Reception room, Aunty Doris asks if I do 80th Birthday Parties , so give her a card whilst the Bridesmaid asks for one as well.

8.00 Off to the bar for a sit down, kick my shoes off (which are by now feeling like they are welded to my puffy, aching feet )& a coffee.

12.30pm Guests are now almost all gone except Uncle George who is still telling the same story he was telling at 1pm! Time to swing into action and remove all the chair covers, take down the Twinkle backdrop, load all the table decorations into the car, pick up all th left over favours, placecards, gifts, coats, handbags, cameras and anything else that is worth keeping & place them into a box for the Bride to sort out. Finally leave the venue at 2am and drive 2/12 hours back home to a dejected looking dog, lights blazing in every room (thanks kids!) and legs & feet that feel like lead ready to start all over again in the morning.
